This beautifully designed house, which comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests, will charm you with its rustic beauty and tranquility, featuring potent solar showers, feather pillows, powerful fans and mosquito nets in all sleeping areas, and great wi-fi. The fully equipped american-style kitchen, has a table for six, and includes a blender, cabinets, utensils, coffee-machine, sandwich maker, stainless-steel pans and pressure cooker. There are two decks with hammocks, a couch, clothes line, counters and table for four. The decks are great for a view of the organic gardens, and for spending a perfect afternoon among friends and family. CASA is your home away from home, in the midst of nature, while also conveniently located only a short walk to the city center!
Located only 1.7 km from Paraty's historic center, the Peroba house has two suites on the second floor, each with a double bed, open closet, and window seating for observing local fauna and flora. one suite, 'Jabuticaba', also comes with air conditioning. The mezzanine area, located between the suites and separated by curtains, comes with a double bed, and beautiful large windows. On the first floor, the living room can also be used as a suite with a full bath and two sofa-beds (for 4 people in two doubles or 4 singles). Separated from common areas by sliding wood doors, this suite opens up onto a spacious deck perfect for a relaxing afternoon.
The spacious yard, with an orchard of coconut, tangerine, jabuticaba fruit, pitanga fruit, banana, acerola, lime and avocado, as well as an organic vegetable garden and open grassy spaces, is excellent for enjoying a barbecue, stretching or lounging in the sun. We provide a portable grill, and there is a designated area for gathering around a bonfire on starry winter nights. We have uncovered parking on site for up to two cars (reservation recommended).
The Peroba house is part of an ecological educational project called CASA Ecológica Paraty, it's letters representing: Connection, Learning, Sinergy, and Warm Welcome. We promote tourism and living in balance with oneself, others, and the environment. The property, which includes the Peroba house, encompasses two other spaces, the Ipê house, and the new chalet, which also may be rented.
We live onsite with our sweet cat - Cuica and enjoy welcoming guests into our home. We are available whenever needed to help with anything around the property or to give tips on local attractions or how to get around. We can help with off-the-beaten-track waterfalls, hikes and beaches, vegetarian restaurant options, setting up taxi rides or transfers, or low-impact tours (sailboat, kayak, bike).
Caring for the environment is part of our daily routine, and we invite guests to do the same, recycling their trash and disposing of food scraps in the compost and worm bins, and taking care to reduce water use and electricity. We ask that you use only biodegradable soaps and conditioners, as well as our natural cleaning products whenever possible. The homes were built using ecological materials like bamboo and recycled wood, as well as principles for conserving energy use and reducing wastes. We have a banana sewage treatment system, a green roof, solar panels for electricity, and solar hot water system. We occasionally promote workshops throughout the year in the areas of well-being, healthy cooking, and permaculture.
