Positive: The apartment is in very good condition and looks even better than in the pictures. It has a functional kitchen with an electric stove and most of the need you'll need to cook. It also has a filter so you can drink tap water. The bathroom is very nice and clean and the shower is much better than most of Brazil's widespread electric shower. The pressure of the water is great and you can set the temperature to "real hot". One of the rooms has AC but the fan was enough for me. For those who have never been in a favela before, it is a safe place and I even consider it safer than tourist areas. In the favela, there's a code of coexistence where criminality will not affect you because no one steals inside the favela. You may see drug dealers with guns but they will never do something to you if you respect the codes. (DO NEVER TAKE PICTURES OF THEM OR AREAS WHERE THEY ARE, and if you do, they will approach you to ask you to delete the pictures). Anyway, it is located just in the beginning of the community so you won't have to walk inside the favela. It is just 5 min from the street by stairs and there's also an elevator from Monday to Friday. If you wanna live your first favela experience, this apartment is for you!

Negative: As it is very well located and next to the access to the favela, it can be a bit noisy during the day. But I only had this problem when I had to stay at home for work.

Summary: Great location in Ipanema for a great price!
