A new arrival to the rental market, Buena Vista is the grande dame of Governor’s Harbour. Situated at the top of the hill from the harbour, it offers 360-degree views of the island from the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea to the deep blues of the Atlantic. This historic home has maintained all the charm of a bygone era when Eleuthera was the seat of the Bahamian parliament and Buena Vista the home of the Bahamian Governor. While exuding charm and elegance, it features all modern-day conveniences.
The main floor of Buena Vista boasts a large modern kitchen with a propane stove, modern appliances and an 8 foot island around which to gather for cocktail hour. The dining room flows from the kitchen and seats 8. Across the hall, the living room offers a perfect spot for curling up on the sofa to get lost in a book or watch tv. The main floor also has a full laundry room and a powder room.
The second floor of the house features 4 well-proportioned bedrooms, and 3 full bathrooms. Three bedrooms contain King sized beds, and one has a Queen. An additional single roll-away bed can be provided for a 9th guest. From the second floor, you can access the wrap around shaded veranda. The veranda leads to stairs to the rooftop seating area providing breathtaking views of Central Eleuthera.
A recently added screened in room off the kitchen and swimming pool ensure that everything is in place to make unforgettable memories in this special landmark.
Amenities include AC throughout, WIFI Internet, beach towels, beach chairs, several cooler bags and a 50 quart hard cooler with wheels. At the guest’s option, the swimming pool can be heated for a fee of $350 per week. This property is conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants, grocery stores, the world-famous French Leave Beach and historic Cupid’s Cay.
Adjacent to the house is the charming Peach Cottage which features 2 fully independent 1-bedroom apartments each with their own kitchen and bathroom. Peach Cottage can be rented along with Buena Vista for larger gatherings.
We always enjoy meeting our guests on arrival to welcome them to Buena Vista and are happy to answer any questions and show them around the property. Guests can request a contact-less check in using our key box, if preferred. Code will be provided ahead of arrival. We live locally and are always available, but allow guests to enjoy their privacy unless needed.
The location is just a stone’s throw away and a half mile walk down to the world famous French Leave Beach. The town of Governors Harbour, a three-minute walk down the hill on the other side, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbour. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, banks, a bakery and deli and gift shops. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
