This large light-filled 2-story house has 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor (adaptable to studio and office space), 2 full bathrooms, a large deck, Jamaica Bay nature views and proximity to all of the Rockaway hot spots.
It is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac adjoining a canal in Broad Channel, the only habitated island in Jamaica Bay. This house and many of the houses on the island are situated on a series of canals, which you wouldn't notice cruising down Cross Bay Blvd. from Howard Beach to the better known corners of the Rockaways. You will see outstanding sunsets, birds of all kinds and aquatic life right from the deck.
The island has all your basic needs, including a hexagonal branch of the Queens Public Library. It has subway stop (A-Train), several bus stops and we are a short hop to the NYC ferry (amazing views!) . Parking is typically available in front of the house, otherwise nearby. JFK is just 3 miles away. We are a brief car, bus, subway or bike ride to the Rockaway Beach hot spots.
If you are up for it, kayak directly from the property for unforgettable views of the Manhattan skyline and wild life fostered by the national park that makes up most of the island. Just up the street is the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge where you can hike its gorgeous trails. Please note guests assume all risk and responsibility when using our house boats and bike.
You can get those same views by walking to the end of the block! Or to many nearby spots on Broad Channel and surrounding neighborhoods.
There are free tennis courts and a basketball court on the island a short walk away.

The main bedroom is filled with light from 4 windows and 2 skylights. One large closet.
The 2nd bedroom is also luminous, with views of the canal and spectacular sunrises and sunsets. It has 2 large closets, a queen size bed, side tables and reading lamp, and a large drawing table.
The 3rd bedroom is tiny with plenty of light, a new queen bed, a chair, a side table and reading lamp.
Pillows, linens, and blankets included for all. .
The upstairs bathroom has 2 sinks, a bathtub and shower with powerful water flow. It comes stocked with towels. The downstairs bathroom has 1 sinks, a bathtub and shower.
The well-stocked stocked kitchen is large with plenty of cabinet space to build your larder. We have everything you need for your basic cooking plus. The refrigerator has an ice-maker and filtered water. There is a dishwasher.
The kitchen adjoins a large dining room, with a dining room table that seats 6.
There is a large entry hall with a coat rack, and several places to stow shoes and bags out of the way.
The big flexible living room has 2 deep comfortable couches, a large wheeled coffee table, and a large media cabinet. Our art books are there for your relaxed perusal. This room faces the large deck, which you access here through sliding doors. There is an 85" Sony Smart TV.
The wifi is fast (Verizon Fios).
The house comes with a record player and vinyl collection, and as well a collection of games and art books to enjoy.
The deck has 4 chairs and a table with umbrella, a charcoal Weber grill (propane-lighting), with grilling table and tools attached.
Broad Channel is family-oriented and laid back.
