Poponi Villa is an elegant and authentic Bahamian beach estate built in the early 1940's by a British Admiral. The villa is over 2100 sq. feet and located on a four acre beachfront property with 430 feet of beach frontage. It is surrounded by gorgeous gardens and swaying palm trees on pink sand Poponi beach. The beach was picked as one of the 20 best beaches in the Caribbean by Caribbean Travel & Life. Poponi beach is a small part of a miles long stretch of beaches along the Atlantic.
Poponi Villa offers expansive views of the Atlantic from both the master and second bedrooms in the front of the house. The master bedroom has a king size bed and en suite bathroom. The french doors open up to the front porch with ocean breezes. The second bedroom has the same incredible ocean views, along with access to the screened porch that runs along the south side of the home. This bedroom has twin beds that can be converted into a comfortable king size bed. The bath for the bedroom is located just across the hall. The third bedroom overlooks the century old banyan tree and gardens on the west side of the house. It has twin beds that can be converted into a comfortable king size bed. The bathroom is located just next to the room. The bedroom also has a door that leads to the gardens, courtyard and bougainvillea covered pergola.
Poponi has two living areas - the first has a beautiful wooden tray ceiling with fans and comfortable seating. The TV (Smart), DVD, video library, books and board games are located in this room. The french doors lead to the screened porch. The second living area has cypress wood ceilings with fan, sofa, chairs and writing desk. The door leads to the courtyard with a gas grill and outdoor dining table.
The spacious kitchen offers spectacular views and breezes of the Atlantic. It has been designed to offer an exceptional experience to any chef. It is fully equipped with a Viking six burner stove with pot filler, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, air fryer, Cuisinart toaster and coffee maker and many more amenities. The kitchen island has been custom made of repurposed balinese antique carved wood with copper top and storage beneath. Poponi's kitchen is perfect for family gatherings with a mango wood circular table seats 6-8 and the french doors lead to the screened porch an additional dining table that seats up to 8, overlooking the gardens and Atlantic.
Poponi has many amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Amenities include back-up generator, air conditioning in one living room and all of the bedrooms. (the second bedroom has a portable AC unit that can be used when needed), Starlink wifi, Smart TV, cable, DVD, board games, books, safe, beach chairs & umbrella, seating & hammocks by the beach, as well as under the banyan tree in the back, a fully furnished cabana, outdoor shower and washer.
For larger groups there is a studio cottage a short walk from the house which can be included for an additional charge.
Poponi Villa is centrally located near the settlement of North Palmetto Point which has several grocery shops, pharmacy and restaurants. La Bougainvillea and Unique restaurants are only a short walk on the beach. The historic town of Governor's Harbour, the main town on the island, is a ten minute drive from the property. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, banks with ATM's, gift shops, liquor stores, dive shop, bakery, and half a dozen excellent restaurants. One or another of the restaurants/bars will have live music almost every night of the week. You can also buy the fresh catch of the day to grill at home from the town dock.
