Positive: The apartment No. 5 (in booking.com description named "Apartment") is one of 5 apartments in a separate house (Villa Kalliste), located above the Hotel Kalliste, to which it belongs. Within 5-10 minutes walking distance you find the seafront and the leisure port with many restaurants, 15-20 minutes walk to the beach. Parking is available on site. It is very quiet in the apartment at night (unless there are noisy neighbors because of the thin walls). The apartment has a huge private terrace with a beautiful view over the bay. The terrace is equipped with sunshade roof, table, 4 chairs and 3 deckchairs. The guests of the apartments can use the great swimmingpool area of the hotel kalliste, which is just a few steps away. The apartment has 1 large room with double bed and a small adjoining living area, 1 large living room with adjoining small room with single bed, a kitchen, a storage room with a wardrobe and a very small bathroom. Towels and bed linen are included. The kitchen is equipped with fridge, freezer, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher and whashing machine. There is air conditioning, but only in the large sleeping room and in the living room.

Negative: The apartment No. 5 is on the 1st floor, accessible via a steep external staircase with no light in the darkness. The driveway to the house ist also very steep and dark. The furnishings in the apartment are bit old, mixed and not that clean. Mixed tableware, pots and pans are old, rusty, scratched and sticky. The apartment ist not well maintained, the housekeeping is worse! On our arrival we found a broken light bulb in the corridor, leaking shower tube, broken door handle, rusty drying rack. (The light bulb and the shower tube were changed during our stay.) But the worst experience was the bad smell in the whole apartment, even though all the windows were open on our arrival. At first we thought it was coming from the drain. So we bought drain cleaner in the supermarket and we left it on overnight. As there was no improvement next morning, we continued to look for the cause. Then we found some mouse droppings on the kitchen floor and in the drawer with the pans. So we realized that the terrible stink comes from a dead mouse underneath the kitchen furniture. We reported this to reception and within 15 minutes two caretakers and a cleaning lady came to remove the mouse corpse and to seal the gaps in the wall. The cleaning lady wiped the floor but she didn't clean the drawers or the pots and pans in them! I than did that myself. But a slightly foul smell remained in the kitchen during our whole stay. So it was unpleasant to eat there. The problem must have been known to the staff, because nobody could ignore this terrible stink. But why haven't they eliminated the cause before we came instead of setting up some fragrance dispensers? Nevertheless we received neither an apology, nor any compensation for this inconvenience. The only comment was given by the caretaker: "This is Nature." NO - this is lack of hygiene and maintenance which can cause health problems!
